Participant Code of Conduct
As a participant of this program, I agree to follow the rules of the program and fulfill the expectations and responsibilities as outlined in my handbook, including, but not limited to:
I will arrive to work on time every day that I am assigned to work.
I will call my Job Coach and Worksite Supervisor if I will be arriving late or when I cannot work due to illness/injury.
I will dress neatly and wear clothing appropriate for my worksite.
I will not use my cell phone or other personal electronic devices during work hours (except for clocking in and clocking out).
I will learn the rules of my worksite and follow those rules.
I will be safe. I will not use equipment I am not trained to use.
I will be courteous and polite to Worksite Supervisors, Job Coaches, fellow co-workers and to patrons of my employer.
I will follow all directions from the Worksite Supervisor and ask questions when I am not sure what I should be doing.
I will record/input my hours worked accurately and honestly using Y.O.U.’s Paylocity recordkeeping platform.
I will be cooperative, respectful, honest and patient when dealing with supervisors, co-workers and patrons of my employer.
Workplace Attitude
Maintaining a positive attitude can help create a respectful and friendly work environment for everyone. Sometimes, we may be dealing with problems in our personal lives. It is up to us to be aware of how our personal issues can affect work.
If you have things going on in your personal life that are making work more difficult, you can contact your Resource & Support Specialist for support and assistance and/or talk to your Job Coach for help developing strategies to help you succeed.
BE ATTENTIVE AND POLITE
If someone enters an area where you are working, make eye contact and say hello. Speak clearly and in a positive tone. When a supervisor asks you to complete a task, do so promptly and with a positive attitude.
BE FLEXIBLE
You may be asked to do something work-related that is not in your official job description, asked to change tasks/stations, or asked to change your schedule for the week. Remain flexible and open, be willing to learn new things, and try your best to work with your Worksite Supervisor to get the job done.
TAKE INITIATIVE
There may be times at your worksite where extra help is needed, a task that’s supposed to be covered by someone else hasn’t been taken care of, or you recognize that something needs to be done, even if it’s outside of your job duties. Do not sit around waiting for your supervisor to give you direction, take action & actively look for ways that you can make positive contributions to your worksite.
ASK FOR FEEDBACK
Ask your supervisors for feedback so that you can learn, make improvements, or hear about the great things you have done.
Attendance and being on time are important aspects of your summer job. Your worksite is relying on you to be there for the time you are scheduled.
Your attendance is a major part of your evaluation.
Since you are paid hourly, being absent/late will directly impact the amount you earn on your paycheck.
Attendance & Punctuality
What if I am sick?
If you are sick or need to miss work for any reason, you MUST let your Worksite Supervisor and Job Coach know immediately.
Always try to give as much advanced notice as you can, especially if you know ahead of time that you need to be absent.
What if I am running late?
If you are running late, call your Worksite Supervisor and Job Coach to let him/her/they know that you are on your way.
Make sure you apologize for the inconvenience and make a plan to assure it does not happen again.
Technology Usage
Cell Phone Use
The use of your cell phone or other personal electronic devices is generally not allowed while you are at your worksite.
Cell phone use at your worksite should be limited to break times or emergencies only.
It is OK to leave your phone on so that you can be reached by your parent/guardian but make sure it stays put away.
Worksite Devices
You may be required to utilize computers/cell phones/etc. at your worksite. Ensure all worksite guidelines are followed while on electronic devices. Web surfing/social media may not be allowed.
