The Clenagers thrive through their Y.O.U. Internship

Yaz-Cleen!

Cora, Neema, Camille, and James are the Clenagers. They are mentored by Shana Black, the founder of Black Girl Media. She describes them as a multi-channel media platform to speak to teens, by teens, for teens.

They create podcasts, YouTube videos, TikToks, and other social media posts about content that’s relevant to them. Some themes they like to discuss are mental health, social justice, and the process of graduating high school and preparing to go to college.

Cora thinks the content they create is “serious, but also fun.” She finds it important “to get (their) messages out but also to relate to other youth.”

“I think the most unique thing about the teenagers is it's totally run by them. So they create the programming they come up with the episodes.

If you're thinking about signing up to be a Y.O.U. intern, I definitely think you can. You can be a Clenager, or if you're thinking about being a mentor, it's totally worth it. You'll enjoy it. The kids are great, and you'll get some good help too.”
